JANUARY 3-4, 2020
The Davenant Institute invites you to the Third Annual Carolinas Regional Convivium Irenicum! Please join us for a Friday night and Saturday of fellowship, friendship, and conversation renewing Christian wisdom for the church. Our theme this year is “Literature in Service of Christian Wisdom.” We invite thoughtful paper submissions related to this topic by November 29th; see full Call for Papers here.
Attendees will begin arriving around 3:00pm on Friday, Jan. 3rd, at the Davenant House. At 4pm Dr. Donald Williams will give a pre-conference talk. At 6pm we have dinner on the grounds and the first session will begin at 7pm. The 2020 Carolinas Regional Convivium Irenicum schedule will include the presentation of papers, Q&A and worship as well as meals on site.
Registration rates are as follows (includes Friday dinner, Sat breakfast and lunch):
$45 for daytime participation (Early Bird price: $30)
$120 for overnight at Davenant House (Early Bird price: $90)
We encourage you to sign up as soon as possible; registrations received by December 7th will receive the Early Bird discount.
If you have any questions please contact Mark Olivero ([email protected]). In order to keep costs at a reasonable rate we ask for your help with meal preparation and clean-up. Food and drinks are provided. If you are willing to help, let us know on the registration form below, or on the form that comes with the sign up packet. The sign up packet will include a detailed schedule, directions to Davenant House and general info.
A past president of the International Society of Christian Apologetics, Dr. Donald Williams is the author of eleven books, most recently Deeper Magic: The Theology behind the Writings of C. S. Lewis (Baltimore: Square Halo Books, 2016), “An Encouraging Thought”: The Christian Worldview in the Writings of J. R. R. Tolkien (Cambridge, OH: Christian Publishing House, 2018), and The Young Christian’s Survival Guide: Common Questions Young Christians are Asked about God, the Bible, and the Christian Faith Answered (Cambridge, OH: Christian Publishing House, 2019). For more info about Dr. Williams we refer you to his CV [ https://tfc.edu/faculty/dr-donald-williams/ ] or his website [ http://donaldtwilliams.com/ ]. Dr. Williams’ talks will illumine this theme with a special emphasis on how C. S. Lewis used and wrote literature to serve Christian wisdom.
