What is Wisdom: A Biblical Exploration

“Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?” Wisdom is an absolutely central theme in Scripture, and the book of Proverbs constantly commends it to us as essential to living an upright life. But what does wisdom mean? This holistic concept, grounded in the goodness of tradition and straddling the divide between theoretical knowledge and practical-know-how, and between natural and special revelation. Too often eludes us today. This course will offer an in-depth study of how this theme functions in the biblical vision of faithfulness and human flourishing. Taught by Alastair Roberts. Runs 9/30-12/13/19.
