I often wonder what the next generation of Christian leaders will look like. Protestant communions have splintered. Doctrine disappears under the demands of pragmatism. Sin and licentiousness threaten to overwhelm us. Will we continue to wander in our wilderness, or will we go back to the sources to re-learn who and what we are in order to renew our worship?
Then I remember that just this past Saturday, I had breakfast with five young men to discuss Athanasius’s On the Incarnation. I also remember the ever growing number of Christians who are laboring to understand Protestant social teaching. And I consider the many young men and women who have already taken on the task of remembering who we are as Protestants.
These things awaken hope in my heart for the future. While the past is not a final destination, it is a signpost that helps us live wisely today. And we need this wisdom more than ever to remain strong and courageous in faith.
To embolden the faith of Christians, The Davenant Institute retrieves the riches of classical Protestantism for the church. We remain committed to our Press, our classes and programs at Davenant Hall, our journal Ad Fontes, and our in-person convivia. We plan to march forward and expand operations in order to continue reaching the next generation of Christian leaders for the sake of the Church.
Our President Emeritus Brad Littlejohn used to tell people that Davenant’s mission was “show what it means to be faithful Christians and good citizens in a world where those are no longer the same thing.” I like that. And through our army of friends, we commit to serving the church of God in the coming years to help Christians know how to live faithfully in our faithless age.
But we need your help now. Give today to our 2024 End of Year fundraising campaign so that we can do more and do it better than ever before.
Blessings in Christ,
Wyatt Graham
