Lying Prophets or Loving Fathers?

The Prophetic Logic of Ascribing Emotions to God

DELIVERED BY

RYAN HURD

A FREE ZOOM LECTURE + Q&A

Date

tuesday April 1st, 2025

LOCATION

Zoom

TIME

7:00pm ET

Throughout church history, the traditional position regarding so-called “divine emotions” in Scripture is that although the biblical prophets said God has various emotions, this nowise agrees with the facts.

In grappling with the seeming scandal of this, many today have underplayed its reality or else left unanswered the natural question: if this is actually true, then why on earth would the prophets say these things at all? Indeed, how in fact could they? These questions involve a very grave difficulty, and people concerned with taking Scripture seriously are right to press it.

In this lecture, Ryan Hurd will attempt to respond to this issue by facing it honestly and giving the traditional answers(s) to it in full.

The lecture will be followed by a time of Q&A.
