Join The Army of Friends in 2025

Dear Friends of Davenant,

Eleven years ago, I made my first trip to the mountains of South Carolina for Davenant’s third annual Convivium Irenicum. I didn’t know a soul when I arrived. Three days later I departed as the newest recruit to Davenant’s army of friends. Never had I experienced such a high level of fascinating theological discussion combined with food, drink, and fellowship. I left hungry for more.

I returned a year later even more engaged and a year after that I found myself on the Davenant Board. Later elected as chairman of the board, I worked closely with now-President Emeritus Brad Littlejohn. I watched Davenant grow from hosting annual national convivia to providing a platform for top-notch theological education, publishing significant works of theological retrieval and contemporary application, holding regional and international convivia, residential fellowships, and more.

Returning to the board in 2024, I am excited to be part of Davenant’s next stage of growth. Wyatt Graham has become our Executive Director, bringing many years of non-profit management to the position. In the course of the next year Davenant will publish, among others, new editions of historic works by (among others!) Peter Martyr Vermigli, Theodore Beza, B.B. Warfield, and John Witherspoon  as well as original works by brilliant emerging scholars including Miles Smith, David Haines, and Joseph Minich, which retrieve the wisdom of our Protestant past in the service of the contemporary church. Our Ad Fontes journal will continue as a quarterly print publication and with its steady stream of excellent online content, and Pilgrim Faith and a new soon-to-be-announced new flagship Davenant podcast will fill the needs of those who enjoy substantive conversation and discussion. Classes at Davenant Hall will provide serious theological education unavailable anywhere else for both degree seeking and non-degree students.

It’s been eleven years since I joined the army of friends, and I haven’t looked back. Join us with a year-end donation so you too can enjoy what is to come.

With Advent greetings,

C. Scott Pryor, Professor of Law and Chairman of the Board of The Davenant Institute
