Introduction to Theological Latin, Part II

Building on Intro to Theological Latin I, by the end of this course students will gave covered two-thirds of the standard grammatical forms of the Latin language. Classes will involve ample amount of speaking and composing in the language.

Description

This Language course will be taught by Charles Carman, and will run from January 10th through March 19th 2022. The syllabus will be available here soon.

This course will continue to work through Lingua Latina and Tim Griffith’s NSA Latin. By the end of the course, students will have covered two-thirds of the standard grammatical forms of the Latin language. Class-time is spent discussing the readings and grammar, composing in Latin, and engaging in live storytelling in Latin. The course takes places over the course of 10 weeks, with a weekly 1.5 hr. online class along with at home lectures describing the grammar; expect 6 – 8 hours of homework a week


Charles Carman (MA, New St. Andrew’s College) is the resident language instructor at The Davenant Institute, and is highly accomplished in multiple ancient languages.


Online only, runs 10 weeks, meeting 1.5 hrs./wk. via Zoom. Students will also be able to participate in class discussion in the Davenant Common Room Discord server.
